Photographer Spotlight: James Reynolds

James Reynolds is a professional photographer in Asheville, NC who specializes in shooting landscape photography. He focuses his lens mostly on the Great Smoky Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth. James’ style involves waiting until conditions are special and then attempting to capture an accurate image of the scene. His goal is to capture a realistic depiction of the subject.

James discovered his love for photography when he was just a boy visiting his family in Southwestern Montana. It was his first time seeing the mountains, and he wanted a way to record all of the amazing things he saw there. Growing up in a photography family, James’ parents gave him his first camera at the age of five, and he has not looked back since.

When the team at ChromaLuxe saw James’ work, we immediately knew that we had to talk to him and get to know his experience working with ChromaLuxe.

ChromaLuxe: When did you first learn about ChromaLuxe?

James: Most of my projects start with a fair amount of research, and when I started getting serious about printing my work I wanted to explore the different available mediums. I’d seen some metal prints in galleries and liked what I saw and wanted to know more about that in particular. That’s when I learned that most of the print labs that offered metal printing were working with ChromaLuxe.

ChromaLuxe: What was your initial reaction to seeing your work printed on metal?

James: The first time I saw my own work on metal I was astounded. I always enjoyed seeing my work in print. A physical reproduction of a scene or subject I’ve captured feels special each time. But the first metal print was the first time I thought it actually looked better than on my screen. The color, the contrast, the fidelity to the original image. And then the sleek form factor of a metal print on a float mount was unique and I was hooked.

ChromaLuxe: What are the features about ChromaLuxe that make it preferable over other mediums?

James: Several artistic and practical features make Chromaluxe my favorite medium for the large majority of my images. The outstanding color accuracy, the fidelity to the original image, the clarity and depth. Your best work will shine on metal. And then the light weight for its size makes mounting and hanging easier, and the eye-catching look of a metal print on a float mount spacing it just off of a wall really enhances the overall aesthetic.

ChromaLuxe: What is your experience with ChromaLuxe compared to other print mediums?

James: In my experience, ChromaLuxe excels in color, clarity, and detail in a way that pleases the eye and most importantly pleases the clients who order my prints.

ChromaLuxe: What would you say to clients or fellow artists who aren’t familiar with ChromaLuxe?

James: I would encourage both groups to give it a try! Chromaluxe is not just something novel or different to try. It offers an advancement in the reproduction of color and detail in ways that will please the artist and the collector.
